Found in sandy dunes, this flower was once used to treat the bites of the sand viper, hence the first part of the name. The other part of the name, “bugloss” is derived from the Greek word bou (meaning cow or ox) and the Latin word glosso (meaning tongue). These refer to its leaves, which could be said to be shaped like an ox-tongue.
Imaginitive bunch aren’t they, these botanists?
Elena you did a stunning job colouring this piece. When I done the lines I had little idea of what it was meant to look like, but you brought it to life. Great great work. Very proud
Lovely. Specialy like the colours and the effect that creates the depth within each flower.
Very beautifully drawn and coloured, another fabulous piece!
Bravo, all the flower pieces are stunning!
