I always think there aren’t enough images of her Majesty’s head on this site, so I thought I’d contribute one of my own.
This one is done in watercolour and fineliner as usual, with the skin tones on the face done using skin tone brush pen by Elena

Hey – good to see you again. And Her Maj would be delighted I’m sure. Faces are a really interesting sub-category in your approach. Does it make you look at the structure of the face in new ways?
This is the first really in depth face I’ve done for this. The other faces are usually much smaller and so I don’t have to worry too much about the details. My technique uses tracing paper, so I really appreciate faces with lots of lines and in this case her Maj was happy to oblige. However, on my To Do pile, I have a picture of the young Martin Luther King and I find it very daunting as it’s difficult to pick out the major lines. It’s been on my pile and overlooked for about 30 postcards as it’s scary.
Her Maj is absolutely delighted that she finally has a full on frontal profile and is not just looking to the left all the time…..and features instead of patterns! Hope she doesn’t give me the sack! 😉
Doesn’t Her Maj have an official portrait done every year? Surely you should apply to do it this year Positivelypostal? Or maybe I should send this to Buckingham Palace and see if they’ll consider me…
I am starting to think of where to send the cards at the end of the project and I’m veering towards the idea of sending one half to the artist or subject of the card and one to someone else. So in this case it would go to the Queen. I wonder which one she would want
